Become a Visionary Volunteer!

Become A Volunteer

AVAM's amazing community events, like our Kinetic Sculpture Race, Sock Monkey Saturday, Pet Parade, and more, just simply wouldn't be possible without the help of our amazing crew of Volunteers! Are you looking for something fun to do while supporting the national museum for intuitive artistry? Volunteer at AVAM and be a part of something truly visionary! There are many opportunities throughout the year to lend us a hand, below are just a few. To find out more, contact Sara Pike: sarapike@avam.org or 410-244-1900 x216.

Join AVAM's Docent Program

Learn more about visionary art and artists by volunteering to be a tour guide for the American Visionary Art Museum. The Docent Program is an important branch of our educational programming. Lead groups through our permanent and rotating exhibitions enriching the experience for all of our visitors. As an ambassador to the museum you can enhance a visit to the museum making it a memorable learning experience. Docents have opportunities to preview exhibitions, meet artists and get access to our library. We have frequent training sessions to help you get to know our artists and become familiar with their art and stories.

Depending on your availability, we will contact you when groups request a docent-led tour, or you can schedule regular times to be available for visitors in the galleries. For more information or to find out about our next training session, contact Sara Pike: sarapike@avam.org or 410-244-1900 x216.
